- 1971: Foundation of the first independent boarding school
for partially sighted students in Germany with 42 students
- 1971: Start of the early intervention program for blind
and partially sighted children
- 1973: First class of visually impaired children with
learning disabilities
- 1973: Start to consult visually impaired students who
are mainstreamed at regular schools
- 1982: Moving into the current school building, St. Michael
- 1983: Establishment of the department for multiply impaired
children with visual impairments
- 1998: about 100 visually impaired students are attending
the school
- about 80 visually impaired students are attending regular
schools and are receiving services by the consulting department
- about 50 children are receiving services by the early
intervention program
- about 80 employees are working in various fields at the
school
