II. Our Colonies' coloured population, 1912
For the first time the official report has data on the indigenous and
non-indigenous population for all our protectorates. Togo has (partly
established on the basis of a census, partly estimated) 1,003,000 inhabitants.
Kamerun (census, estimation) 2,537,400, Suedwestafrika 81,950 (without the
Ovambos) indigenous coloureds and 4,170 non-indigenous coloureds, Ostafrika
7,495,800 indigenous and 14,900 non-indigenous coloureds, Neuguinea (estimated)
600,900, Samoa 33,550 aborigines ansd 2350 chinese and melanesian workers, so
that the overall coloured population of our colonies adds up to about 12
million.
