John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22nd 1963 in Dallas, Texas. The suspected assassin was Lee Harvey Oswald. But two days after Kennedy´s death he, too, was shot by a nightclub owner named Jack Ruby while being on a transfer to another jail. One of the first actions of the new president, Lyndon B. Johnson, was to appoint a commission to investigate Kennedy´s assassination. The Warren Commission concluded that Oswald had been the assassin and that he had acted alone. This was informally called the lone gunman theory. But still, many people believe that Oswald was part of a conspiracy. Just to give a few examples: - Kennedy and his brother Robert (who was assassinated in 1968) were killed by the Mafia in retaliation for their increasing crackdowns on organized crime - The CIA killed Kennedy for not backing the Bay of Pigs Invasion and vowing to break the Agency “into a thousand pieces”. - Kennedy was going to drop Lyndon B. Johnson in the next election, so he had a motive, too. - Cuban President Fidel Castro´s agent killed Kennedy in retaliation for the many times the American had tried to kill him. |
