THE NAVAL BLOCKADE DURING THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS
During the Cuban Missile Crisis after the “Bay of Pigs “ Mission failded, the US administration planned a naval blockade of the coast of Cuba. The blockade’s goal was to stop Soviet ships reaching Cuba, because they trasnported nuclear weapons and other kinds of arms to Cuba.

According to the US Navy, a blockade was necessary to prevent further activities of the Sovjets, which would have eventually led to an active military conflict.

The naval blockade took effect. Kennedy and Khrushchev acted cautiously to avoid a clash. Two Sovjet ships reached the blockade line and halted their positions. Soon they and other ships turned back .
Krushchev decided not to challenge but he never actually acknowledged the blockade.
