Doblhoff-Dier, Anton Freiherr von, Austrian statesman, born on November 10th 1800, died on April 16th 1872, distinguished himself as member of the Estates of Lower Austria, by a Liberal position, in May 1848 as minister of trade he joined the cabinet Pillersdorf, after the dissolution of which, in the new cabinet under Wessenberg he held the portfolio of the interior and provisionally that of education. In the October days he resigned and withdrew from public affairs. From 1849 to 1858 he served as [Austrian] ambassador in Den Haag, from 1861 to 1865 he was member of the diet of Lower Austria, and of the Reichsrat. In May 1867 he was appointed lifelong member of the House of Lords.
