Spanish Capture of Bougie (Bugia) 1510



In 1510 a Spanish expedition, commanded by Pedro Navarro, took Bougie (Bugia) on the Mediterranean coast of eastern Algeria. Attempts by Muslim Corsairs to retake Bougie/Bugia in 1512 and 1515 failed. The Spanish held on to Bugia until 1555.
