Administration . King Fahd ruled from 1982 to 2005; he was succeeded by his brother Abdullah (since 2005).

Foreign Policy . Saudi Arabia did not join the Coalition of the Willing in 2003.

The Economy . Seventh Five Year Development Plan 2000-2005, Eighth Five Year Development Plan 2005-2010.
In 2005 Saudi Arabia joined the WTO.

Social History . The 2006 population estimate is 27.0 million.

Cultural History . Saudi Arab athletes participated in the Summer Olympics of Athens 2004.
