Palestinian National Authority Egypt
First posted on March 28th 2007, last revised on December 30th 2008

Until 1917 part of Ottoman Syria, until 1948 part of the British Mandate of Palestine, the partition plan of 1947 foresaw Gaza and environs to form part of the Arab State of Palestine (to be created). In the course of the First Arab-Israeli War 1948, part of Gaza's environs were annexed into Israel, the remainder occupied and, until 1967, administrated by Egypt. Then the area came under Israeli occupation. Since September 2005 it is under the administration of the Palestinian National Authority.
