History of Central Africa Chad

Chad, 1880-1910

France had declared a protectorate over BORNU and BAGIRMI in the 1890es, only to agree to split these kingdoms in treaties with Germany (1894) and Britain.
The Sultanate of WADAI and RABIH AZ-ZUBAIR continued to resist the French; Rabih was defeated in 1900; Wadai continued to resist until 1913.
The two terroitories of Chad and OUBANGI-CHARI were treated as one, the seat of French administration being FORT LAMY (modern N'Djamena).
