Spanish Guinea, 1918-1939



European settlement concentrated on Fernando Poo, where cocoa was grown on plantations. Another export product was timber. In 1924 and 1925, Liberians were forced to board ships for Spanish Guinea, where they were to work on plantations (cocoa). In 1930 the League of Nations investigated the Liberian-Fernando Pooan 'slave-trading'.
