Emirate of Bukhara |
|
Upon the death of Nadir Shah, his Persian Empire disintegrated. Ahmad Shah Durrani created the Durrani Empire (1747-1823)
with its capital at Kandahar. The Durrani Empire pursued a policy of invasions into India, which brought it into conflict with
the decaying Mughal Empire and with the Sikh Confederacy in the Punjab. In 1823-1824 the Durrani Empire disintegrated; the successor states include Herat (1824-1863, where the Durrani Dynasty held on), the Emirate of Afghanistan (1823-1926, Barakzai Dynasty, capital Kandahar). The Durrani Empire temporarily extended into the Indus valley; hence some contemporary sources treat Baluchistan, Sindh and the Punjab as part of Afghanistan.
