Kunduz Emirate of Afghanistan
First posted on June 12th 2010






In consequence of the disintegration of the Durrani Empire Herat became the capital of a reduced Durrani polity in 1824. Invasions of Qajar Persia in 1852 and 1856 failed; in 1863 Herat was annexed by the Emirate of Afghanistan.
