Bihar, together with Bengal and Orissa, inb 1765 was ceded to the E.I.C. by the
Mughal Emperor and the Nawab of Awadh (Oudh).
Until 1912 it formed part of Bengal Presidency. In 1912 the Bengal Presidency
was dissolved, and the Province of Bihar and Orissa formed. In 1935 the latter was split in the separate provinces of Bihar and
Orissa. The Province of Bihar got a parliament and chief minister of its own. In 1947 Bihar joined the Republic of India; a number of Muslim Biharis fled into East Pakistan. In 2000, Jharkhand split from Bihar. Bihar since 2000 . Bihar 1971-2000 . Bihar 1947-1971 Timeline : Bihar Historical Atlas, Bihar, British India, India Page |
