Travancore |
|
The Hindu Kingdom of Travancore lasted from 1102 to 1949. From 1498 to the 17th century through ports such as Quilon
in contact with the Portuguese, from the 17th century to 1824 with the V.O.C. respectively the Dutch. Since the
Anglo-Mysore wars (1766-1799) a vassall of Madras Presidency. The Princely State of Travancore lasted until 1949.
Travancore joined the Indian Union in 1947. In 1949, Travancore and Cochin were combined to form Travancore-Cochin.
In 1956 Travancore-Cochin was merged with the District of Malabar to form the State of Kerala.
