Grand Duchy/Kingdom of Etruria, -1808



On October 7th 1800 Napoleon signed a treaty with Spain (an ally since 1795) according to which Spain ceded Louisiana and the Duchy of Parma to France, in return for Etruria, which was made a kingdom for the daughter of Charles IV. of Spain. In 1801, by the Treaty of Florence, Etruria annexed the Stato dei Presidii (hitherto part of the Kingdom of Two Sicilies.
In 1808 the Kingdom of Etruria was annexed to the French Empire.
