Açores 1880-1918

In 1895, the Açores were granted some degree of political autonomy. Between 1892 and 1906, individual series of stamps were issued for the administrative districts of ANGRA, HORTA and PONTA DELGADA. From 1905 on, Açores stamps also were used on Madeira. The issuance of Açores coins was ceased in 1901; from 1905 to 1910 the Bank of Portugal issued banknotes overprinted Açores.
