Denmark 1969-1990

In 1985 Denmark signed the Schengen Agreement, which resulted in the abolition of border controls with Germany and Norway, and since 2001 with Sweden. Denmark did not join the Euro Zone in 2002. A combined bridge and tunnel since 2000 connects Copenhagen with Sweden. In 2003, Denmark joined the Coalition of the Willing and contributed to the forces occupying Iraq. A cartoon published in a Danish newspaper ridiculing Prophet Muhammad resulted in Danish embassies, consulates and businesses being exposed to demonstrations, boycott etc.
In 2004, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark married Australian Mary Elizabeth Donaldson.
