History and Administrative Division . Bohuslän, in Norwegian spelled Herjedalen, is located on Sweden's North Sea coast. Until 1658 it belonged to the Kingdom of Norway. In 1680 Bohus LÄn was established as a Swedish administrative unit, larger than the formerly Norwegian region by that name annexed in 1658, as it also included western sections of Västergötland. In 1700 the name was changed into Göteborgs och Bohus Län; it lasted unril 1997.
