Administration . Since 2003 the post of PM is held by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (UNMO). Barisan Nasional, a coalition of UNMO, MCA and MIC, won the general elections of 2004.

Social History . The last census of 2001 counted 23.2 million Malaysians. The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami caused 68 deaths in Malaysia.

Cultural History . Malaysian athletes participated in the Summer Olympics at Athens 2004.
