Boer Republic

David Massouw and 400 Transvaal Boers in 1882 conquered a strip of land kust west of Transvaal. Farmland was allotted to Boers who participated in the conquest. The new territory was proclaimed REPUBLIC OF STELLALAND, it's capital VRYBURG.
In 1885, Britain annexed the small republic, which was included into the new BECHUANALAND PROTECTORATE.
In 1895, the Cape Colony annexed Southern Bechuanaland, including what used to be Stellaland. In the Boer War of 1899-1902, Vryburg was contested ground.
