 In 1278, the Count of Foix and the Bishop of Urgel resolved a dispute over the territory of Andorra by agreeing to treat it as a condominium. In the course of the French Revolution, France first denied the tribute paid by Andorra, but under Napoleon took the place of the Count of Foix. (1806), while Spain represented the interests of the Bishop of Urgel. In 1993 the status of condominium was terminated and Andorra became a sovereign nation.
