Gold Coast, 1919-1939



In 1919, TOGOLAND was officially granted to Britain as a MANDATE by the League of Nations.
By the 1920es, the Gold Coast had emerged as the world's preeminent supplier of COCOA. Other export items were manganese, timber and some gold, which once had given the area it's name.
Political movements aiming for independence were founded.
