 Achilles, Akhilleus  heel  Strongest of the Greek heroes in the Trojan war. After his lover Patrocles was slain by Hector, Achilles killed Hector and desecrated his corpse. This angered god Apollon, who killed Achilles by shooting an arrow into his heel - the only spot on his body where he could be wounded.

 Bellerophon  Corinth  was given the task to fight the Chimaera, the Amazons, caught Pegasus
 Cassandra  prophecy  daughter of King Priamus of Troy, had the gift of prophecy, predicted the fall of Troy; nobody believed her
 Ganymede  Troy beau  son of Tros, abducted by Zeus because of his beauty
 Hector  Troy  Trojan hero, son of Priamus. Hector killed Patrocles, the lover of Achilles; Achilles then took revenge by killing Hector.
 Helena, Helen  Sparta, Troy  wife of King Menelaus of Sparta; her abduction by Paris to Troy started the Trojan War
 Heracles (Hercules)  strongman  Greek demi-god (son of Zeus); had to accomplish 12 labors : fight the Nemean lion, the Lernacean hydra, the Erythmean boar, the hind of Ceryneia, the Stymphalian birds, clean the stables of Augeias, fight the Cretan bull, tame the horses of Diomedes, acquire the belt of the Amazon queen, search for the cattle of Gereon, acquire the apples of Hesperides, fight with Cerberus. He also relieved Atlas from his burden for a while, fought the Centaurs and Apollo.
 Icarus  Icaria,

 son of Daedalus, Athenian prisoner-of-war on Crete who flees captivity by flying with feathers glued to arm with beeswax. Icarus was over-confident, came too close to the sun; the beeswax melted, he plunged into the sea.
 Jason  Iolcos  set out with the Argonauts on a series of adventures; acquired the Golden Fleece from Colchis
 Laocoon  Troy, serpent  Priest of Troy, warned Trojans not to take wooden horse into the city, was killed by sea serpent
 Midas  Lydia, gold  acquired the Golden Touch - everything he touched turned into gold; then tried hard to get rid of it.
 Minos  Crete  legendary king of Crete, his palace being Knossos, father of the Minotaur
 Narcissus  beau  fell in love with his own mirror image
 Nestor  Pylos, wise  oldest of the Greek heroes fighting the Trojans
 Odysseus (Ulysses)  tricky  Greek hero in the Trojan War, conceived the wooden horse; on his way back to Ithaca he had to live through many adventurous situations - he met the Cyclops, Circe, the sirens, the Ployphem, Scylla and Charybdis, Calypso, visited Nausicaa etc. Back in Ithaca he slew the suitors who had cast their eyes on his wife Penelope
 Oedipus  Thebes
 mother-lover
 son of the ruler of Thebes, abandoned as a child because of a prophecy, he grew up not knowing his identity. As an adult he returned to Thebes, killed his father and married his mother.
 Orestes  Mycenae  son of Agamemnon, King of Mycenae. When Agamemnon was killed by his wife Clytemnestra, Orestes took revenge by killing his mother.
 Orpheus  lyre, singer  when his love Eurydice died, Orpheus descended into the underworld and sang that beautiful, that Hades released Eurydice from the underworld
 Pandora  box / jar  first woman, had a jar or box containing plagues
 Paris  apple  Trojan prince, son of Priamus, abducted Helena and thus started the Trojan War.  
 In another situation he was asked by Aphrodite, Artemis and Athene to select the most beautiful among them by tossing a  golden apple to her.
 Penelope  Ithaca  Odysseus' wife; despite having many suitors, she remained faithful during her husbands' 20 years of absence.
 Perseus  Seriphus
 winged shoes
 King of Seriphus, obtained cap of invisibility, winged shoes, sickle and bag, killed Medusa, relieved Atlas from his pains by turning him into stone
 Priamus (Priam)  Troy  legendary king of Troy, father of Hector, Cassandra, Paris
 Prometheus  stole fire from Mt. Olympus and gave it to the humans; was chained to a rock, was visited daily by a bird who picked out a part of his liver (which would regrow)
 Sisyphus  Corinth, rock  punished by Hades, had to roll a rock up a mountain. It would roll down again and he would have to repeat his back-breaking labour. 
 Stentor  voice  Greek hero in the Trojan War. His voice could be heard over a wide distance
 Tantalus  Sipylus  King of Sipylus (Asia Minor). Was invited by Gods to dine with them; betrayed their trust by telling their secrets. Was punished, chained to a rock, with the water level just out of reach and grapes above his head, just out of reach. He would suffer eternal hunger and thirst.
  Theseus  Athens  hero who went to Crete, entered the labyrinth, slew the Minotaur, liberated the virgin
