弘. Introduction
央. Relationship between Literature and History
For this chapter, I will state about the relationship between literature and history, how literature reflected history based on some examples. I will briefly write about mimetic theory, suggested by both Aristotle and Plato, and arrange some examples of literature. Maybe I can compare the flow of literature, and history ex) Middle Ages-religion-based works, Renaissance-sonnets & criticism on clergy, 失. Definition
First, I started this paper with the title of ※Life of Noble Women Reflected Throughout 19th Century Literature§. However, during the progress, I found out that this title doesn*t suit for my 5th chapter, Henrik Ibsen his work ※Dollhouse§ with his non-noble heroine. Thus, I changed the word ※noble§ to ※upper-class§, and felt a need to define this term. I am concerning to define ※upper-class§ in 19th century that people who suit for at least one of two conditions; having ownership of inherited peerage, or wealthy bourgeoisies.
奴. Approach of Study
For finding how the life of upper class women reflected in 19th literature, I have picked some works that properly reflected life of upper-class women. I believe all of them directly dealt with life of upper-class women. Maybe Agnes Grey written by Anne Bronte can be an exception, since the heroine, Agnes Grey became a private tutor. However, she was included in an upper-class society and that was the reason that she decided to be a private tutor, at least a kind of job, which expected to the upper class women. However, even in Agnes Grey, I expect there a portray of lives of upper-class society since the heroine worked for a rich family.
