The Theatre Project


The theatre-project was set up in 1992/93 and is run by Heide Walb. Since then it has been permanently integrated as an optional subject within the general curriculum. Some of the productions were developed in cooperation with the music & dance-project. Therefore they are described in this paragraph as well as in the paragraph on "music & dance". Most of the productions are available on video for a small fee and can be ordered by eMail or mailing to the address of the school Besides those main productions videos of smaller productions are also available such as: a team work of the subjects industrial lab & music: "Carnival of the animals" by Camille Saint Saens performed as a dance with masks and a shadow play by students of 5th grade. a team work of the subjects German & music: "The sorcerer's apprentice" a) poem (ballad) by Goethe b) symphonic poetry by Paul Dukas students of 7th grade perform a dance theatre pantomime based on Dukas music.	October 7, 1993 : opening night of "Deutschland, du das Land der Hoffnung" - ("Germany the land of hope") (drama) Within the scope of activities against racism the theatre group developed its own ideas showing racism in everyday life and what can be done against it. March 29, 1995 : opening night of "Bananas" (musical) Working together in both the theatre-project and the dance & musicproject students from different nations met and transformed "Bananas" -a drama by the "Berliner Gripstheater"- into a musical. Heide Walb (director of the theatre-project) published a definitive article, which describes the importance of school - theatre for foreign students in Germany. May 13, 1996 : opening night of "Kaisers und die Kleider" - ("The emperor and his clothes") (drama) While working on Christian Anderson's fairy tale the traditional roles are turned up side down. The emperor is a self-loving playboy whereas the empress rules the country in a cool and rational manner.
