Moldova 1917-1924

In 1917, Moldova did not exist as a political entity of her own. The larger part of modern Moldova, the territory to the west of the Dnjestr, known as Bessarabia, until 1918 was part of the Russian Empire, and then annexed by Romania. The smaller part to the east of the Dnjestr, until 1924, formed part of the Ukraine.
