Council of Europe (2)

The Council of Europe continued to function as an inter-European forum offering the various European governments the opportunity to discuss common issues. A major policy of the Council has always been stressing human rights. The European Council had suspended the membership of GREECE while the latter was under a military dictatorship; in 1974 the country reverted to democracy.
The human rights policy pursued by the Council of Europe found implementation in the CSCE CONFERENCES held in Helsinki 1975, Belgrade 1977 etc.
