Inner Austria, comprising of Styria, Carniola, Carinthia, Gorizia-Gradisca and Trieste, was ruled by a separate Habsburg line residing in Graz (Styria) from 1379 to 1619, when the Inner Austrian duke succeeded to the inheritance of the Habsburg Dynasty's Austrian line, and was crowned Emperor. The collective appelation "Inner Austria" continued to be used until 1740.
