The United States has been a highly influential country for many years. With its massive army force, political power, and tremendous wealth, the US was always more than ready to reach out to other nations in numerous ways. Thus in the 1970s and 1980s, one of the giantĄ¯s target was a very small country in Central America. In its pursuit, the US declared their intentions as to be in freeing the Salvadoran people from the threatening spread of communism within the nation. In its process, there were a great deal of military intervention and casualties regarding the citizens of El Salvador. Even to this day, no one can be sure of the real intentions of the US or how much the US army and politicians actually did get involved in making the Salvadorans suffer.
This research paper will be studying the basic facts concerning the case of El Salvador and two movies: one from a SalvadoranĄ¯s viewpoint and the other from an American reporterĄ¯s viewpoint. The focus is on how two different movies from different perspectives can portray very different images of one identical situation.
